Directv is BAD news

Hello Again,
As I mentioned in my first post, in Dec 08
I signed up for the $29.99 per month plan. To my
surprise my first bill was for $56.17! I immediately
called Directv and talked to a customer service
rep.
I was told it would take a couple of months
for the rebates to kick in. I gave her the required
information in order for the rebates to be activated.
Afterward she told me it would STILL be a month
or two before they would take effect!!?? That my
first bill would still be $56.17.
She also mentioned that my plan was for 12 months.
I told her that their sales rep. told me I would get 18
months service for the $29.99 rate. She told me that
they always have different rebates available and I need
to call customer service in Dec 09 and get additional
rebates to keep the service at the $29.99 rate. I ask
her why I have to go through that when I was already
suppose to have that rate for 18 months? She could
not answer that.
My service started on 6 Dec 08 and my first payment
was due on Dec 21st. I called Directv the day after I
received my first statement. I mention this to show that
I had not even had service with Directv for two weeks
and already was having problems.
When the customer service rep. could not or would
not help me I filed a complaint with the BBB. Directv
responded by giving me a credit on my next bill. But
concerning the 18 month plan they said they were
sorry for any misunderstanding, but my $29.99 rate
is only for 12 months. I knew than I was going to
have a long fight on my hands.

By the way I also noticed on my first bill that a Directv
protection plan would begin in 30 days at a monthly
charge of $5.99. The first I had ever heard of this.
I told the customer service rep. I was not interested in
their protection plan and not to charge me for it. She said
she would have it removed.
Had I not caught that future charge on my statement
they would have added another $5.99 to my bill.
Ladies and Gentlemen READ THOSE STATEMENTS!

I've said it before and I'll say it again. AVOID DIRECTV
LIKE THE PLAGUE!!  My fight with them continues.

Directv is BAD news.

                                                      DO NOT TRUST DIRECTV

Thinking about signing up with Directv??

Well you better read that small print REAL CLOSE!

What they DON'T tell you about, up front, about those great
initial offers:

They don't tell you that the advertised price won't kick
in until 3-4 months AFTER you sign up. You will be charged
the REGULAR FULL price until you complete certain
requirements.
You will continue to pay the full price until you complete those
requirements. (It's all in the small print).
After you sign up for a particular package and you get
settled in with those channels, THEY WILL TAKE AWAY/
REMOVE channels from that package. When you complain
they tell you that they have the right (again it's in the small print)
to remove any channels they want to. If you want a certain channle
back then you have to up-grade to another package, for an
additional fee, of course.
Your monthly bills will never be the same two months
in a row. When you complain they tell you, oh there was a
tax increase that had to be passed on, or some other excuse.
If you agree to let them take payments from your
checking acct. etc., you never know how much they are
going to be taking out. DON'T LET THEM TAKE PAYMENTS
OUT OF YOUR ACCT. Send them a check or pay electronically.

If you sign up for 12 months their sales reps will ask you to sign up
for 18 months, telling you "the good thing about that is you get the same
low price for the entire 18 months." It does not take long to find
out that's a lie.

All of the above comments are based on my own personal
dealings with DirecTv.  Which are still ongoing. It's like a nightmare
that just won't end!

If you're thinking about getting satellite or cable do yourself a favor
and avoid a LOT of hassle by staying away from Directv. Go with
your local cable company or Dishtv. Avoid Directv like the plague!

READ THAT small PRINT!!!

                                                  Lots of luck,

                                                                   David
