Directv is STILL BAD news

Hello again Ladies and Gentlemen,

For those just joining this saga of a year long

battle with Directv. Let me just bring you up to date

by saying In Dec 08 I responded to an Directv ad for

12 months service at $29.99 per month. My intentions

were to sign up for the 12 months.

Their sales rep. told me if I agreed to 18 months of

service "that the good thing about that was I would get

the same low price for the entire 18 months." Based on

THEIR sales rep's statement I agreed to the 18 months

of service.

For the last YEAR  I have been fighting with Directv over

this matter. They say my agreement is for 12 months at

$29.99 and the rate will go to $60 for the final 6 months.

I have ask them to review the tape (they record all

conversations) of my conversation with their sales rep.

They refuse to respond to this. Let me make it clear that

in my year long battle with Directv over this matter

that they have NOT ONE SINGLE TIME DENIED that their

sales rep. offered me the 18 months at $29.99.

The moral to this story is to NOT BELIEVE ANYTHING their

sales rep's tell you. The same goes for their customer service

rep's. When I first complained about this in Jan 09

their customer service rep told me to call back in Dec

09 to get additional credits to keep the monthly charge

at $29.99.Just another lie!.

If you ever have any dealings with Directv or any

company for that matter. Be sure you get the name of the

person you talked to, even better would be their employee

ID number. You also want to get the location they are

working out of. I know the person I talked with worked

in Phonix,Az., but unfortunely I did not remember his

name. I'm sure Directv knows his name because he probally

got a commission for the sale.

I have filed numerous complaints with the BBB about this

matter. In my last complaint I told Directv that if they

were not going to honor their 18 months agreement with me

that I wanted them to get their satellite dish off my roof.

This is part of their Jan. 08,2010 response:
After reviewing your account, we found that you will be
discontinuing service before your DIRECTV service agree
ment has been completed. Therefore you will be charged an
an early cancellation fee.

They also want me to pack up THEIR equipment that THEY

installed and mail it back to them! Even though they broke

our agreement. They are OUT OF THEIR MIND.

Concerning the satellite dish this is what they had to say

in their Jan.08 response: "When a dish is installed on a

property, it becomes part of the property. Therefore, it

is the homeowner's responsibility to have the dish removed.

DIRECTV does not remove equipment, which has been installed.

We recommend you contact a professional to remove the

equipment as specialized equipment and training may be

necessary to ensure safe removal of the dish and other

equipment. Sincerly, DIRECTV Office of the President"

As far as I'm concerning Directv is advertising their

product on my roof (their logo is imprinted on the dish),

and I expect to be compensated.

I believe $30 per month to be reasonable. I will send

them a statement the first of each month. If they do not

pay this fee, and really even if they do, I believe this

has the making of a LARGE CLASS ACTION LAW SUIT against them.

I would imagine there are THOUSANDS of out of service

Directv satellite dish's on roofs accross the country.

Are there any class action attorneys out there reading

this??

Folks If your are having or have ever had problems with

Directv please file a complaint with your local BBB, as

well as your state Consumer Affairs Dept. and/or Atty.

Generals office. In most states you can do this on line.

Just "google" consumer affairs dept. and enter a state.

You can also file complaints with the California BBB at:
http://www.la.bbb.org/  (Directv home office is in California).

They also have physical offices at Greenwood Village, Co.

and Carol Stream, Il. You can also file complaints with the

Directv I would appreciate if you would at least inform

http://www.la.bbb.org/  and the Atty. Gen. in california.

Thanks for taking time to read my story. When anything else

of interst happens I will let you know.

I say again, AVOID DIRECTV LIKE THE PLAGUE! Go with your

local cable company or Dishtv.

Directv is BAD news.

The main reason I went with Directv was due

to my cable company increasing my monthly rate

from $22 to $39, plus they had the Versus

channel and I wanted to watch the Tour De France

and Lance Armstrongs come back.

My service with Directv started on Dec. 6,2008,

and within a month or two they REMOVED the Versus

channel from my service plan. I received no notification

I just went to turn it on one day and it was gone.

AGAIN I got on the phone and called them. I was

informed by their customer service rep. that they

have the right to remove any channel they want from

my list of channels. If I wanted to get the Versus

channel back I would have to UPGRADE to their Choice

Extra package. By this time I was kicking myself

for ever leaving my cable company and signing up

with the pack of deceitful crooks at Directv.

Needless to say I didn't get to watch the Tour De

France.

As I mentioned in a previous post they would always

be deducting a different amount from my checking

account each month. Durning the above conversation

with their customer service rep. I told her to

stop taking payments from my checking acct., that

I would be paying by check from now on. Of course

they continued to take money from my acct. I had to

file another complaint with the BBB to get them to

finally stop, and reimburse me for over payments

because I was also sending them checks by mail.

I also mentioned in the above complaint that I had enough

of their nonsense and was going to cancell my service

with them if they did not put the Versus channel back

on my list of channels.

You'll find out if you ever

have any dealings with Directv that their favorite

word is "misunderstanding", they are always "sorry

for any misunderstanding". It's always the customer

that had the "misunderstanding" They completly ignore

the FACT that their sales rep. told me I would get

the 18 months of service for $29.99 They just state

that I have an 18 month Service Agreement with 12 months

at $29.99. In Jan my rate would go to $60. I have told

them that it makes no sense that I would agree to

such an agreement when I could not even afford to

pay $39 per month for cable! I have also ask them

to listen to the tape of the conversation I had with

their sales rep.(they record the conversations) to

confirm that I'm telling the truth. No response.

I kept my part of the agreement and stayed with this

terrible company through Dec 09. The 18 months would

have gone through June 2010.Now they tell me that

I will be charged an early cancellation fee, and that

for MY CONVENIENCE they will charge my credit card for

any outstanding balance. Thank goodness I started

paying them by check and have cancelled the card I

had for this account.

I have told them to get their satellite dish off of
my roof!

In my next post I will go into the ongoing battle

about the removal of their satellite dish. Wait

until you hear what they have to say!!!

As I have said before AVOID DIRECTV LIKE THE PLAGUE!
